St. Paddy’s Day is right around the corner, but you don’t need luck to find a good contractor. In order to choose a reputable company, you may have to do a little more research upfront. But it’ll be completely worth it once the job’s finished! To help you with your search, we’ve put together a few important questions you should ask potential installers:
Are you Licensed or Otherwise Certified?
Okay, so this is pretty straightforward, but it needs to be asked. After all, if the company you’re interviewing can’t provide the necessary certifications, then you can move on well before the work starts. Don’t be afraid to inquire about their state licensing, the certifications of their installers, and/or any additional training they’ve pursued.
For example, at Schaefer Exteriors, our staff has gone above and beyond to ensure we provide the best service possible. From acquiring “Lead-Safe” certifications from the EPA, to becoming Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) Certified Installers, and even exploring Master Shingle credentials. You can trust that we’ve got the knowledge to handle any home exterior project you want to tackle.
How Much Experience Do You Have?
Also, a valid question. Not that you should base your entire decision on their answer, but it’s helpful to know whether the person you’re talking to has 6 months of experience or 6 years. According to the experts, businesses that have been in your area for 10 years or more operating under the same name are among the most reputable. You should be able to see what year the business was founded easily on their website—no luck required.
From there, feel free to talk to the technicians who’ll be installing your new roof, siding or windows about their specific time with the company. Although we’ve been in business throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Northern Virginia, and Eastern West Virginia since 1977, not all of our installers have been with us since the beginning. But we always try to allow our less experienced employees time to train under our veteran technicians. So, you won’t have to worry about exactly who’s working on your home.
Can you Provide References?
Much as you’d have to provide references before starting a new job, we wouldn’t hesitate to offer you the same opportunity. After all, before we officially start working together, it’s your opportunity to interview! So, if you’d like to speak to any of our former (satisfied) clients, we’re happy to connect you with them.
Also, you don’t have to wait for the company to provide this information anymore. Feel free to go online and browse recent reviews! Some of the more reputable companies will include this information directly on their website(s), but others you may have to hunt for. Be sure to check Facebook, Yelp, and Google for information that will help you make your decision.
Don’t leave this choice to chance! When it’s time to invest more in your home’s exterior, entrust this project to someone who makes you feel comfortable. At Schaefer Exteriors we’re ready to answer all of these questions and more! Just to earn your trust. Don’t settle for a company who isn’t willing to do the same. Whether it’s St. Paddy’s Day or not, you shouldn’t need luck to help you choose a reputable home exterior company.
